Protect your files if your phone is stolen
A thief, or someone who makes you unlock your phone, should not get your private files. Set this up once, before anything happens.
07Guide
Steps
- In Settings, open Privacy and security and set Lock after leaving to Instantly or a short time. On Android, every vault also locks when the screen turns off.
- Keep private files in a vault with its own password, not in your home vault. The home vault opens with a tap on your own phone, so only the phone's screen lock guards it.
- Give each vault a cloud copy, so a lost phone does not lose the files. On Android: Phone copy and cloud.
- Write each vault's recovery key on paper and keep it away from the phone.
- If the phone is gone, sign in on another device, open Signed in in Settings, and sign the lost phone out.
Good to know
- Vaults open only with a password or a recovery key, never with a fingerprint or a face, so nobody can unlock one by holding the phone up to you.
- On Android, screenshots, screen recordings and the recent-apps view show a blank screen.
- For files that must not be found on the phone at all, see Keep a vault off your phone.
- What Ciphroh does not protect against is on the security page.
